Biography of Dr. Anne, A WORLDLY EDUCATOR
WITH A PASSION FOR THE INNER VOICE
This Canadian woman, raised in England (just like her contemporary, the main contributor to Rude Boys of the Internet, Beryl Kierkeham), has dedicated her life to education and personal growth. Her journey began as a Special Education teacher, working with children in Canada, the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas, and Palm Beach County, Florida. Before embarking on doctoral studies at the University of Toronto, she took 6 months to travel around the world.
After earning her Ph.D., she transitioned from the classroom to academia, becoming a professor at the University of British Columbia and later at Trent University. Her expertise extended beyond traditional teaching, as she conducted psychoeducational assessments —a process she playfully likened to “CSI of the brain” — while working for an Ontario school board.
In 2008, she embraced early retirement to pursue her creative passions: writing and painting. However, her desire to help others continued. She discovered a neuroscience calling to guide individuals towards connecting with their inner voice, a process she facilitates through the use of EEG headset devices. This innovative approach is showcased in her film titled “the opposite of loneliness.”
Beyond her professional accomplishments, she takes pride in her family. She raised two successful adult children and enjoys her relationship with her now-grown-up granddaughter. Her life exemplifies a commitment to education, self-discovery, and a unique approach to helping others unlock their inner potential.
“We are all Special Ed. Our brains glitch in some way, some times, causing us some dismay. We may stutter for a moment, can’t find a word we know well, or maybe lose our balance, or, most disarming, draw a memory blank. It’s these moments that take us to empathy for those who experience glitches so often their quality of life is affected. I train people to control their brainwaves to eradicate or at least reduce their brain glitches.”
